My many yers of work with Jo Swain and JIGSAW Consulting with a focus on Leadership Calibration has been transformative.  If helped me to sharpen my lens around what "meets" and "exceeds" truly looks like with regard to teaching performance and encourage me to ground my evaluations in observable practice rather than assumptions. This process has also reshaped how I interpret teacher performance overall--moving me from broad impressions to a much more precise, evidence based view of instructional practice.  Instead of asking, "Does this feel effective?" I now ask, "What did I see, hear, and observe that demonstrates impact on student learning?" This shift has allowed me to recognize strengths with greater accuracy, identify growth area more clearly, and ensure that my evaluations truly reflect what is happening in the classroom while honoring the professionalism of my staff.

As an elementary principal and struggling to make evaluations meaningful, calibration helped me focus on what was most important.  I was able to have meaningful conversations with staff, help them set goals and focus vs trying to evaluate everything that was happening in the classroom when I was in there to observe. Calibration helped me concentrate on what was mor crucial as an elementary school principal who struggles to make evaluations relevant.  Instead of trying to assess everything that was going on in the classroom when I was there to observe, I was able to have maningful conversations with staff and assist them in setting goals.

Calibration helped me become more consistent, more evidence-driven, and clearer in my evaluations  After the process, I realized how much room I had to grow in aligning language, evidence and scoring.
